British troops stationed in Germany could purchase a ration of fuel coupons, allowing them to buy discounted petrol at selected stations such as Shell, BP, and Aral. Wankum became legendary as the last station before the Dutch border where those coupons could be used — a vital stop remembered by generations of service personnel.
Those days are long gone, and petrol coupons are no longer accepted, but the memories remain. This keyring is a small, nostalgic tribute to a uniquely British Army-in-Germany experience that instantly resonates with those who were there.
