Sapper, military engineer. The name is derived from the French word sappe (“spadework,†or “trenchâ€) and became connected with military engineering during the 17th century, when attackers dug covered trenches to approach the walls of a besieged fort.Â
Used more commonly amongst the ranks o the Royal Engineers of the British Army. A proud monicker, rank equivalent of a Private in any other Regiment.Â
A World class Regiment. Don't go drinking with them and definitely don't fight them 🤣
